Extralucidity: gift or calvary of the overly sensitive gift?

Extralucidity is the mixture between environmental analysis by the Gifted and hyperstimulation that he receives from the world around him because of his hypersensitivity.

Definition of extralucidity

First of all, let's define what it is.

Traditional definition of extra-lucidity

If you are looking, you will find several definitions of extralucidity. Basically, the person extralucent to a "gift" of voyance (or foresight). She guesses what the common mortals do not see, or what escapes normal consciousness. Personally, it reminds me of Mrs. Irma reading the future in her crystal ball.

Here, we will use the first meaning of this word, that is to say, extra-lucid in the sense of a person very lucid. So we'll talk about a gifted one (extremely) conscious, who perceives, understands and expresses things with (extreme) clarity and insight. The divination part has no place here. This is not really a gift, but rather attention (extremely) particular to environmental details.

Extra lucidity from the point of view of a gifted

So the zebra is aware of the world around it. He perceives it and understands it extremely well. This unusual vision, although it seems to be a good thing, is actually a source of fragility for the gifted. He worries about everything, anticipates every action, and is aware of all dangers. To illustrate my remarks, I will take another example already used on this site – what happens in my head when I walk on the street:

Extra lucidity in the street
  • I walk right in front of another person: we're going to get in. It must change its course to avoid impact. But if we both do, it doesn't solve the problem.
  • I hear someone in the pharmacy. It is therefore possible that this person will come and get added to my calculations to avoid the individual in front of me. What if the door opens on the outside of the building? She'll come in front of me. Be careful.
  • There's a pigeon in the distance, on the floor lamp. It would be nice if he took off from there, otherwise I'm afraid he'll shit me. I'm gonna move in case.
  • In front, a person walks his dog. The leash is relaxed. A car will soon double them. If the dog ever decides to get on the road, it's screwed for him. What do I do? Nothing?

You see, I constantly analyze my environment. And then I worry, I anticipate, and I see the dangers. The other day, I went to get mushrooms in the forest. I spent the day (and the previous few days) calculating risks of food poisoning with a bad fungus. I see danger everywhere.

Extra lucidity of the gifted from an early age

For a intellectually young childThis extralucidity can weaken development. Indeed, he will realize the world in which he is long before normal age. He quickly lost his naivety as a child. For example, I quickly realized the mortality of my parents. And if it happens, what do I do? Completed " Don't worry, Paul, we'll always be here to help. " No no no. If you have a car accident tomorrow, you won't be here to help. Who's gonna do it? I have to find a solution.

After the attacks of the World Trade Center in 2001 and the entry into war of the United States, I began to seek a solution in the event that a war broke out in France. How can I protect myself? In primary school, I understood what trafficking in children was and that some adults may be ill-intentioned towards the youngest. From that moment on, I stressed every van that passed through the street, every stranger I met... I was afraid to get kidnapped.

The extra lucidity of the gifted young person thus weakens him well. By seeing the dangers and anticipating all the (bad) outcomes, he stresses much more than he should. Ever since I was young, I have seen the world with a sort of veil or filter that shows me all the ways that every thing could turn. Good for happy ends. However, need have a solution for each less glorious purpose.

Extralucidity in adulthood

As extralucidity grows, it takes a different turn. I always anticipate the death of my loved ones, but I am more independent and in this sense I am "reassuring". If that happens, I will be "just" sad. Similarly, I am a rather sporty big boy (1.89m) (I did the 2018 marathon in Paris!), so kidnapping makes me less afraid. At worst, I'm running. Run long, I know how to run. In fact, during adolescence I solved a lot of my childhood problems. These "big" problems of life are now validated. I have a solution for about everything.

Now, extralucidity will block me on problems that may seem completely anodizing – or at least much less serious. I talked about it at the beginning of this article: I went to collect the mushrooms last week. Well before I even found a forest to pick them up, I looked for the mortality rate during the individual collection. Picking mushrooms is nice, but be careful to pick the good ones. I'm aware of the situation: it's not just a nice thing, there's also a danger. So I found upstream a kind of small map that allowed to classify the different species, found a pharmacy close to the place of re-school to ask them their opinion, and the procedure to follow in case of proven poisoning. In 2019, the wild collection of mushrooms caused 2000 poisonings in France, which resulted in 3 deaths. The mortality rate is low, but I needed to anticipate and anticipate solutions.

Prevention and management of extra lucidity

Since then, I have found some tips that allow me to better manage this extra lucidity of gifted. Here are the three main ones.

1. Understand that it is because it is zebra

Already, to understand that extralucidity is a way of seeing the world proper to the zebras is doing a lot of good. I wasn't weird, I was just normal in my difference. In addition, I was able to read the first feedback on the experience of gifted people who live the same thing. And that makes you feel crazy because you feel less lonely. Putting words on a bad thing really moves the situation forward.

2. Step back

Once I understood Why I saw things this way (and why others did not), I managed to take a little step back on my anticipations and anxietys. After a while, when I realize I'm going too far, I manage to say to myself " Paul, it's the extralucidity that talks, stay calm, everything's going to be fine. " That's how I finally agreed to go to the mushrooms. Even if a (great) part of me told me it was dangerous, I managed to relativize.

3. Reassurance by providing maximum

Nevertheless, I still need to have a start on the answer for each situation. I can't go 100% without preparing for a new adventure. I need to have done some checks before. That's why I think I absolutely don't like to be surprised: it's unknown! And in my opinion, this is also the reason why I love the event. Much of my job is to plan a solution for each scenario so that the event goes well.

Conclusion: extra lucidity of the gifted person, between gift and ordeal

To conclude, extralucidity is a characteristic characteristic of zebras, high potentials and gifted. It results from their complex and complete analysis of the outside world and their sensitivity to the subtle variations in their environment. They see the world as it is, which can weaken them greatly because they worry about everything, anticipate everything, and see dangers everywhere.

However, a few solutions can mitigate these anxiety effects:

  • Realizing that the cause of this extreme lucidity lies in gift;
  • Step back on extreme situations and reactions;
  • Plan and find solutions to advance the quiet spirit.
