Today I will explain to you what the High Intellectual Potential In three minutes. It will allow you to understand the broad outlines of the subject to better discuss with your loved ones. My name is Paul and my high potential was detected over ten years ago now. Today, with Connect The Dots, I share what I learned to help the little new ones to love, accept, understand.

NB: This article is the transcript of the video above

What's high potential?

The high potential is someone who has a different operation. Basically, there are two main things going on.

Hyperconnection of the brain

Small 1:The gifted one has a different cognitive functioning. His brain is hyper-connected thanks to a high rate of myelination. Basically, connections between neurons are made faster, and more intensely. Result: High potential thinks and analyzes everything, all the time.

Hypersensitivity

Small 2 : it is hypersensitive to the surrounding world. That is, he manages to detect the smallest details of his environment. It also shows a very large empathy. But he is also emotionally hypersensitive: I like to say that he is a person who has the vulnerability of a three-year-old despite his adult body.

Well, that's the theory. What does that mean? Well the constant analysis of its environment plus the feeling of what surrounds it usually causes what is calledextra-lucidity (or vision). The high potential sees things as they are, in a raw way, without filter. It works differently because of its different wiring. It is this new way of thinking (tree thinking) which makes it possible to find different solutions. Overall if only one thing were to be retained, it would be that he did everything differently. It is not "over-intelligent", it is different.

Some tips for addressing the topic

So what if someone around you announces that he has intellectual potential?

Already discuss it. Even if we saw some guidelines in this short video, we could really talk about hours. But above all, there are as many high potentials as there are people with high potential. It is a facet of our personality, and under no circumstances our entire personality. We're all different, and we're all unique. Really see this announcement as an opening to dialogue. Get to know yourself again, taking into account this new element.

As we said, our brain is wired differently. It also applies to the meaning of words and phrases. We don't analyse them the same way and we don't understand things the same way. It can be a problem at school, at home, or in a couple. Anyway. So always reformulate things in a different way as soon as you feel that there is a blockage. That's how you'll avoid many who seem a little stupid.

Then: pay attention to emotional shocks. Remember, we have super-adult and mature looks, but we have the little hearts of a three-year-old. A badly placed word can destroy us from within.

And finally (this is certainly the most important) do not pay attention to the stereotypes of high potential. No, to be high potential is not to be Einstein. But it's not a school anchor either. The vast majority of zebras melt into the mass and are not aware of their gift. Yes, there are some exceptions. There are geniuses, like students in difficulty. But that's all it is: exceptions.

Here, I hope you understand a little better what it's about than three minutes ago. To go further I recommend you to read my article on the latent inhibition deficit. It's something that the gifted people might be interested in. That's what makes us often feel like we're full of them and everything's gonna explode. See you!

Hello! I'm Paul. I come out of many years of international business studies that have brought me to a few years of experience in management and events and the creation of a company. What I love most is to experiment and test new things, understand what's going on. So I've always been very curious, read and learn a lot. In order to share my passion for personal development, I decided to create Connect The Dots (CTD). Good reading!
